Abu Dhabi Terminals Achieves ISO 9001:2008 Re-Certification and Maintains ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 Certifications

19/04/2012

Abu Dhabi, 10th April 2012 - Abu Dhabi Terminals (ADT) has successfully recertified its Quality Management System (QMS) for ISO 9001:2008 certification from Bureau Veritas and maintained certifications in Environmental Management Standard & Occupational Health and Safety Management System under ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.

ADT was originally certified to the ISO 9001:2000 by Bureau Veritas in November 2008 and upgraded to ISO 9001:2008 in September 2009. The company’s activities in Mina Zayed, Musaffah Port and Free Port in Abu Dhabi were recertified after a stringent audit.

Martijn Van de Linde, ADT’s Chief Executive Officer said: “The safety for everyone in our ports is our top priority, and in April 2010 we made a commitment to further increase safety and to reduce the impact our services have on the environment. These internationally recognized certifications are evidence of this very clear commitment.”

Mr. Van de Linde concluded: “I thank the team at ADT for their hard work in making the port a safer place and achieving the certification, but we acknowledge the job is not over. We strive for continuous improvement in everything we do, and have now also kicked-off work on securing ISO 28001 certification for our security management systems.”

Abu Dhabi Terminals currently manages and operates the three leading ports in Abu Dhabi: Mina Zayed, the main gateway for cargo in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi; Mina Freeport that caters for smaller vessels, tugs and barges; and Mina Musaffah located in the heart of the industrial area.

The diversified portfolio of services includes a dedicated Container Terminal, Container Freight Station, Warehousing, Cold Store and a General Cargo Terminal that is widely regarded as the market leader in the region.

ADT will also manage and operate Khalifa Port when it opens in the 4th quarter of 2012.
