Khalifa Port welcomes maiden call of CSAV’s CMX service

09/10/2014

A new direct service links Abu Dhabi to major Asian import and export destinations.

Abu Dhabi Terminals welcomed the maiden call of Compañía Sud Americana de Vapores (CSAV) vessel MV Tempanos.

The call at Khalifa Port represents CSAV’s collaboration as a new consortium partner on the CMX service (Super Galex in CSAV) together with APL, OOCL and MOL. This service links Abu Dhabi with major Asian import and export destinations as well as providing fast transit times to Singapore for Intra-Asia distribution. The expanded CMX service currently has six 8,500 TEU vessels in its service; three vessels provided by APL and once each by OOCL, MOL and CSAV. The vessel schedule covers ports in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Singapore and Nansha.

As part of the traditional maiden call ceremony, Captain Capt. Klimecki Miroslaw received a commemorative plaque from Abu Dhabi Terminals to mark the vessel’s first call at Khalifa Port handed by Mr. Ahmed AL Mutawa, Khalifa Port Terminal Operations Director.

ADT’s Chief Executive Officer Mr. Martijn Van De Linde said, "ADT is very pleased to welcome CSAV’s MV Tempanos to Khalifa Port Container Terminal as it strengthens trade links between the UAE and major Asian ports providing convenience to shippers and consignees across these markets. We value our strong longtime relationship with CSAV and we look forward to welcoming the MV Tempanos again on her future voyages.”
