ADT marks 4 million TEU container handling achievement at Khalifa Port

Abu Dhabi Terminals passed another milestone on 13 March when it handled the 4th million TEU  (twenty-foot equivalent unit) container since the transition from Mina Zayed to Khalifa Port in the third quarter of 2012; a remarkable achievement in a short time span. The landmark container was loaded aboard the AS Carelia operated by X-Press Feeders.

This milestone follows ADT’s successful 2014 performance when it became the Middle East’s fastest growing container terminal. Under the management of ADT, Abu Dhabi evolved from a feeder destination to a logistics hub connecting to over 50 international direct destinations.
Khalifa Port has a key role to play as the UAE moves towards driving non-oil GDP and diversifying the economy through the development of the education, healthcare and logistics sectors.

ADT handled a record 1.5 million TEU in 2015, growing its volume by 32% compared to 2014.
